COMMON QUESTIONS

Eligibility

  • High School Senior

  • Acceptance at an accredited institution of higher learning leading to an RN or BSN degree*

  • Diagnosis  of Type 1 Diabetes

  • Confirmation of Type 1 Diabetes by your health care provider

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Application, including supporting documentation and references

  • Students without type 1 diabetes who have demonstrated an exceptional interest in improving the lives of people with type 1 diabetes may be considered for scholarship funding if resources are available.

*We hope to be able to expand the scholarship program to other health related fields in the future.

Application Process

  • Complete the online application, including references and an essay of no more than 500 words

  • Submit the application no later than September 1, 2024

  • Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee

  • Awardees will be notified in September 2024

How much is the scholarship?

  • The minimum amount will be $1,000.

Is the scholarship renewable?

  • The scholarship may be renewable. Consideration will be given to applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or greater

 

Can I apply if I have Type 1 Diabetes and I am already enrolled in an accredited nursing program?

  • At this time, preference will be given to students entering the first year of a nursing program. If possible, we will expand the program in the future.

 

Must I be a US citizen

 

  • No. It is not necessary to be a US citizen

Is the scholarship only for students entering RN programs

  • While preference will be given to students entering a nursing program, students entering other health related fields may apply.
