ABOUT US

I met my future wife, Val, when I was an intern at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal and she was a student nurse. I was immediately impressed with her kindness and compassion for others. Now, 50 years later, I remain impressed with her kindness and compassion for others.

When I asked Val what she would like to do now that we are retired, she simply said that she would like to help others, starting with providing scholarship funds for RN students with type 1 diabetes.

OUR Mission

It is our mission to provide support to students with type 1 diabetes.

Over a period of decades, I have watched my wife deal with every hurdle and every hardship with both optimism and resolve. I know that it is not easy.

While I do not have diabetes, I think I understand it a little bit better than I used to. In my mind, diabetics look like everyone else, compete on the same playing field, and succeed. However, I now realize that diabetics succeed despite having an invisible 25 pound pack on their back. No one sees it, and I don't see diabetics complaining about being treated unfairly. Nonetheless, it is there.

It is our honor to be able to support the next generation of students with type 1 diabetes.
